Graphite is currently developing a concept design for the Newark Vulcans, a community-centered organization rooted in Newark’s rich cultural history. The project envisions a vibrant, multi-use facility that supports youth programming, wellness, learning, and local entrepreneurship. The architectural approach integrates fluid circulation, flexible gathering spaces, and a dynamic material palette that reflects the energy and pride of the community it serves.
The selected concept prioritizes openness and connectivity across two floors, with a strong visual identity shaped by layered volumes and rhythmic facades. In this early stage, the design is a roadmap for future development. It is a reflection of the organization’s ambitions and a tool for aligning stakeholders, securing funding, and building long-term momentum.
